Potato-Bacon Soup

serving size: 1 cup
points per serving: 5

2 slices bacon cut into 1/2-inch pieces
3/4 cup chopped onion
4 cups frozen southern style hash browns ( I used the potatoes O'Brien instead and it added some awesome extra flavor!)
1 14oz. can fat free, low-sodium chicken broth
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. ground pepper
1 cup 1% low-fat milk
2 Tbsp. chopped green onion
1/2 cup reduced-fat shredded extra sharp cheddar cheese
